These terms cover the Chess Arrow desktop app and the chessarrow.com website. By buying a license or using the app, you agree to them.

Who we are

Chess Arrow is made by an independent developer. You can reach us at chessarrowapp@gmail.com.

Buying

Orders are processed by Creem, our online reseller and Merchant of Record. Creem takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and sends your receipt and license key. Prices are in US dollars; tax may be added at checkout, depending on where you live.

Your license

• A purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Chess Arrow. It does not expire and has no monthly fee. Updates we publish for Chess Arrow are included.
• One license runs on one computer at a time. You can move it to another computer as often as you like by deactivating the old one on the Activate page.
• Keep your license key to yourself. Sharing, selling or publishing a key, or getting around the license check, ends the license.

Free trial

Every computer can use every feature free for 24 hours, once. Starting the trial needs an internet connection. When the trial ends, the app asks for a license key.

Fair play and your accounts

Chess Arrow is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to chess.com, lichess.org or any other chess site. Those sites have their own rules. Engine help in games against other people breaks their fair-play rules, and they close accounts that use it. You are responsible for how you use Chess Arrow and for following the rules of every site you use it on. We are not responsible for restrictions, bans or lost ratings on any site.

What you may not do

• Resell, rent or redistribute Chess Arrow, apart from its open-source parts under their own licenses.
• Remove, disable or work around the license check.
• Use Chess Arrow in a way that breaks the law.

Open-source parts

Chess Arrow includes open-source software under its own licenses, among them the Stockfish engine under the GNU General Public License, version 3. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses. The Stockfish license and where to get its source code are in the engine folder of the installation.

No warranty

Chess Arrow is provided "as is". We work to keep it running on chess.com and lichess.org, but those sites change their pages, and the app may stop recognising a board until we update it. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty that the app is free of errors or fits a particular purpose.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Chess Arrow is limited to the amount you paid for your license, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost accounts, ratings or data.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using Chess Arrow after a change, the new terms apply. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the consumer law of your country.
